During the reporting period, the main achievements are:
1. We managed to create the conditions for building a safe house, by collecting money through an extremely successful campaign to build a safe house in which over 100 physical and legal persons took part, and this is our first experience in gathering funds directly from citizens and legal entities. On that occasion was collected around 5,000 KM. And through the lobbying of the mayor of Trebinje to collect the rest of the money for its construction, which will surely amount to over 200,000 KM, as we are currently coordinating capacity (initially planned capacity was for 20 people) in order to reduce the costs of its construction. Our organization has recorded for this purpose a video that was broadcast for a long time on RT RS, ATV, ELTA TV, Herceg TV;

Objective 1. Support to victims of domestic violence through a number of direct services.
- Victims of domestic violence encouraged to speak out on violence on them, to report it and encouraged to take control over their lives (through SOS lines and / or in person at the counseling center received a total of 303 reports of domestic violence; launched more than 124 legal actions).
-Victims of domestic violence pay more attention on their health care (Informative brochure has been prepared, 500 samples, for women from vulnerable categories that we are distributing in Eastern Herzegovina; held several workshops in the field of health education).

Three-year general support that the OAK Foundation provided to our organization is of key importance for the work and development of our organization and for the general benefit of the society (regarding women, particularly from vulnerable categories) within the local community and on the entity, state and regional level. Our organization has a three-year plan and program. During the first year and owing the support of the OAK Foundation, we were able to accomplish numerous results and participate on a number of seminars, meetings and educations, which contributes to the development of our capacities.

“WE WANT SAFE HOUSES AND NOT SHELTERS!”

Support by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

With the support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation NGO Zenski centar Trebinje has held a Street manifestation at the Liberty Square in Trebinje on April 7th 2012. The manifestation under the name “We Want Safe Houses, not Shelters” was intended to promote the importance of Safe houses and to refer to the current Social Security Bill in Republika Srpska, which in the article 121 proposes shelters as an alternative accommodation for each socially jeopardized category (including children and adults, victims of trafficking, homeless people, drug addicts, victims of domestic violence etc.)

The project „capacity Building II“ is a continuation of a project implemented in 2009 because it includes the development of multidisciplinary approach among 63 signatories of the Agreement on Cooperation and Protocols on Cooperation through five-day education and meetings on a two-month level. The Project encompasses all Eastern Herzegovina municipalities (Trebinje, Ljubinje, Gacko, Nevesinje, Bileća and Berkovići).

"PROTECT OUR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH"

Based on our previous experiences and through collection of information about women’s needs in the field, our organization decided to make a project with the aim to raise the level of health education of women living in rural areas, to explain them the importance of paying full attention on their own health and to introduce them with their rights from the social protection area.

„INTERNATIONAL COFERENCE-THEORY AND PRACTICE OF LEGISLATION IN BH“

Project locality: MUNICIPALITY TREBINJE – 30. and 31. October, 2008

On the 30. and 31. October, 2008 our organization organized in Trebinje the international conference “Theory and practice of the legislation in BH” that gathered a number of participants representatives of various institutions/organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina and wider. The Conference analysed the current situation of the existing legislation and compared the results from the field that concern children and women’s human rights.

“WOMEN’S POLITICAL LOBBY”

The main goal of the project is an equal distribution of power among men and women or the implementation of the Law on gender equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The implementation of this Law provides an essential change in the BH society brought about through legal changes and amendments, gender budgets, programmatic changes in the literature, schoolbooks and the media, various processes that will have a gender sensitive and equal treatment of all activities, programmes, appearances and provide in this way an equal distribution of power among men and women in BH.
